Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about automated selling.

The Basics

How does SortSell work?

We use advanced AI Vision to "look" at your photos. SortSell identifies the item (e.g., "1990s Chicago Bulls Hat" or "Canon AE-1 Camera"), researches its market value, and generates a listing.

Depending on which mode you choose, we either create a Draft Listing on eBay or generate a Printable Price Tag for your garage sale.

What is the difference between the plans?

  • Hobbyist (Free): Perfect for casual sellers. You get 30 items per month. The system creates eBay Drafts for you to review and publish manually.
  • Professional ($29/mo): For volume sellers. You get 500 items per month, priority support, and the ability to "Live Publish" directly to eBay without review.
  • Power Seller ($99/mo): Unlimited volume for serious businesses.
Garage Sale Mode

What are the "Printable Tags"?

When you use Garage Sale Mode, we don't send anything to eBay. Instead, we generate a PDF file formatted for standard 8.5x11" paper.

Each tag includes the item name, a fair "garage sale price" (usually lower than online retail), and a QR code. When a buyer scans the QR code, they see the item details online, helping them feel confident in your price.

How do I print the tags?

After your batch processes, go to the History page. Find your Garage Sale batch and click "Print Tags". This opens a PDF you can print on any home printer. Cut them out with scissors and tape them to your items!

eBay Mode

Is my eBay account safe?

Yes. We are an official eBay Compatible Application. We use the secure OAuth standard, which means we never see or store your eBay password.

You grant us a limited "token" to create listings. You can revoke this access at any time from your eBay account settings.

I don't have an eBay account. How do I start?

No problem! You can create one for free.

  1. Go to the eBay Registration Page.
  2. Choose "Business Account" if you plan to sell regularly, or "Personal" for casual selling.
  3. Follow the prompts to verify your identity and link a bank account for payouts.

Once your account is active, come back to SortSell settings and click "Connect eBay".

What are "Business Policies"?

eBay requires every listing to have rules for Shipping, Payment, and Returns. Instead of typing these for every single item, you create "Profiles" in your SortSell Settings.

We recommend using our "One-Click Setup" in Settings to create standard policies (Free Shipping, 30-Day Returns) automatically.

Why did my batch fail?

The most common reasons are:

  • eBay Connection Expired: Go to Settings and click "Reconnect eBay".
  • Missing Policies: You haven't selected a Shipping or Return policy in the Dashboard configuration.
  • Daily Limit: New eBay accounts often have a limit (e.g., 10 items/month). If you hit this limit, eBay will reject new listings until you call them to raise it.
